Gosh I have been dreadful! It's been a whole YEAR since I posted here! I don't have a wonderful post planned, but I thought I should post something... let's see what happens!

Kong frog! Lila's has a lovely yellow fluffy mohawk though...
Lila is currently enjoying a new catnip toy I bought for her. A Kong buddy... a lovely little cuddly frog with a velcro closure in his back, so you can fill (and refill) him with fresh catnip. He's proven to be very popular so far!
I purchased it for her on my last order from Pet Planet which is an excellent site for all pet products. I was just buying Lila's food, but if you spend over £39 you get free postage, and with just the food in my basket it worked out cheaper to buy enough to tip it over and get free postage (and more stuff)0 than pay for postage and only get the food anyway! I don't need any excuses to spoil her though...
I always use Pet Planet to buy Lila's prescription pet food as she only eats Hills t/d biscuits (for dental health) since she had real trouble and end up losing half of her teeth (well more like 3/4 if I'm honest!) last year. Since being on the biscuits her remaining teeth are in excellent health, and she doesn't really want any other food which is easy for me! (incidentally, they t/d on this site much cheaper than my vets do...) I don't know exactly why these biscuits work beyond the large size meaning that the biscuits break in half and both piece scrape the sides of the tooth to clean it like a toothbrush. I think there's more to the formula than that, but from a layman's point of view, that's how I understand it.
This has turned into a bit of an advertisement post.. if any pet companies want to send me free stuff I don't mind *cough* But currently, I'm not being paid to say anything here, it's all my unbiased opinion.

This is Lila peering down disparagingly from her shelf
Well, something lovely thing for the blog is that my husband put up a shelf just for Lila so she can be high up and superior and look down on us all. The plan was to get a walkway of them with ones to jump up and down onto, but it was actually much harder than we thought to affix the shelf to the darned wall (but that's another story) Suffice to say it will be the ONLY shelf on that wall in this house for now... Between us we stapled an off-cut of carpet on it too, which Lila adores as she's allowed to scratch that carpet (unlike all the other carpets!)

Front view of shelf. Those brackets are so strong I could probably sit on there with her!
I think it's so important (especially for owners of indoor only cats) to ensure that you think about furniture etc from the cat's perspective, and this was me trying to think of an area of the room that needed "catification". Lila is nervous (as I've said) and she feels safest with high places and things to hide under. I try to lure her up high more if I can to make her more of a "tree dweller" than a "bush dweller" to quote Jackson Galaxy (cat guru and a bit of an idol of mine!) to get her a little braver and feel like she can dominate the situation a little more. It has seemed to help her a little. We have made a rule that nobody strokes her or picks her up from the shelf (unless vital- like she needs medicine and we can't get her to come down any other way) so it is a sanctuary to her and she can feel big and brave.
Sorry it's been so long since I posted. I am a bad, bad blogger!
